As weird as it is to say, I won’t be home again for about another month. So crazy. Left yesterday, and I’ve been having a blast so far. I’ll have to try and post pictures later, but today we hung out at La Jolla Beach in San Diego for awhile. It had literally been like seven years since the last time I’ve seen the beach, so needless to say, I had a blast! I don’t really want to leave here, haha. The weather is beautiful here, and it had just been too long since the last time I’ve seen the ocean. Can’t wait to set foot on the east coast later on this tour! First show is tonight, so that should be fun. I’ll try to update again soon, but we’ll see.

i had a glimpse today back into my life from my 5-8th grade years. it made me want to throw this out there.
many of you are still in school, and if not, you have jobs, or you’re involved in SOMETHING where you’re around a group of people that you know, but maybe just on an acquaintances-basis. i just want to encourage everyone to look for that one person whos different. and by that, i mean the person who’s looked over, or maybe comes off a little shy or quiet, or maybe even seems straight up weird. if you haven’t reached out to them, just to say hello, or ask about a particular interest that you know you might have in common. it’s easy to get caught up in things going on in your own life & not take notice that maybe someone around you could use a just simple conversation.
in experience, i can tell you that in my younger years, i was probably seen as that ‘weird’ kid. i was an only child and i housed the craziest imagination with no one really to share it with. which was fine, i was oblivious to anything outside of my dream world usually, but i never quite understood why i didn’t have friends like most of the kids at school did. i think i set myself up for it, with my glowing alien necklaces & unicorn/fairy EVERYTHING, doing my hair just like gwen stefani did (not knowing you can only pull that off if you’re …gwen), buying clothes i thought might make them notice me, & making up stories that Reba Macentire was my Aunt just to have something that the other kids would want to talk to me about. hahah.
So without going on and on, I just want you to be the CHANGE, and go up to that person and say hello! The simplest things can be so huge. It’s hard to do that sometimes if you ponder it, so don’t think & just do it. Asking them just a couple simple questions about what they’re into or introducing them to one of your favorite bands or websites…just SOMETHING… might just make their whole year. And who knows, they might end up being awesome (usually i find they are ALWAYS the coolest & funniest people i’ve been blessed to encounter) and you’ll be so thankful for a new found friend.
;)
Reblog please.
love.
I still can’t freakin believe I’m leaving for tour today. Both excited and nervous since it’s my first time. Good thing I’m stuck with a fun group of guys who I get along with quite nicely. Shiiiet, my dreams are finally beginning to come true.
State Of The Union drinking game! Take a shot everytime the Republicans dont clap for something logical. You’ll probably get really drunk…
LOL
it’s hard to be your friend sometimes. will you ever change?
What makes it hard? Maybe then I can answer.
Sooooo I leave for tour tomorrowww.
Super stoked!!! Still can’t believe it though.
Anyways, everyone pray for me! This will be my first time away from home for more than a night, so I can expect I’ll get homesick at some point. And just pray that the whole tour goes smoothly for me and the rest of the guys.
Thanks, and hope to see some of you all while I’m out on the road!

GREELEY ESTATES - NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW [2010]
Before I begin the proper review, let’s go back in time to 2005. Greeley Estates released their EP titled Caveat Emptor. This album was full of cathiness and softer parts, as well as screamy verses here and there. Fast forward to their 2008 record Go West Young Man, Let the Evil Go East and they have upped the heaviness since ‘05. They have started using breakdowns and heavy riffs fairly regularly, but have kept the cathy, melodic choruses.
Now to 2010, where our review properly starts. On January 26th, Greeley Estates released their new record title No Rain, No Rainbow. With this album, they left the majority of the melodic, softer parts and clean singing behind and have made a crushing album. Upon first listen, I wasn’t really a fan. I much preferred their earlier stuff (GWYM,LTEGE in particularly). I have now given the album six play in the space of two days and I can honestly say that it is a highly enjoyable album. By no means is it excellent or a masterpiece, but I can’t stop listening to it. I find it very hard to switch off.
The vocals have improved a lot on this record. These are the best screams that Ryan Zimmerman has ever offered up. Their is also a number of guest vocal parts, all which work quite well. Look out for vocal appearances from: Cameron Martin, Craig Mabbitt, Beau Bokan & Jared Warth. Another stand out on this record is the drumming. This is their first record with Chris Julian behind the kit, and he does a magnificent job. Some of the breakdowns in this album are extremely original and very hard to play along with. The production and overall sound of the album is quite clear and well mixed.
The tracks Jealousy Breeds Killing Sprees and Lying Through Your Teeth Doesn’t Count As Flossing are the two most similar to older Greeley stuff. They are two of my favourite tracks, and have more melodic parts, clean singing and are quite catchy. The first three tracks are all great as well (Seven Hours, I Shot The Maid and loyal.com).
VERDICT: Not a masterpiece, but highly enjoyable, and if you can get used to the new Greeley Estates sound, I’m sure you’ll be a fan.
***1/2 / **** (Still yet to fully determine which rating to give it; 3 and a half or four).
STAND OUT TRACKS: Jealousy Breeds Killing Sprees, Lying Through Your Teeth Doesn’t Count As Flossing and I Shot The Maid.
I was kinda worried about that. We’ll see if I can get used to it.
Thinking about taking out a couple of facial piercings.
Not all, just one or two.
